Dr. Timothy W. Blend
Timothy W. Blend, MD, is a co-founder and the Medical Director of The Blend Institute. He has an extensive background in both traditional and alternative healthcare. A graduate of Ross University Medical School, Dr. Blend has been practicing medicine since 1981. Initially he was trained and Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine at Downstate Medical Center, Kings County Hospital Center, New York University and Bellevue Hospital Center in New York City. Dr. Blend remained at Bellevue and NYU Hospitals as an Attending Physician in Emergency Medicine until leaving for New Hampshire to continue the practice of Emergency Medicine.( see CV)
After spending 7 years in N.H., he and his family left for the more friendly climate of Bradenton, Florida in 1993. Then joining the Emergency Medicine team at Manatee Memorial Hospital where Dr. Blend still practices 1 day per week and assists in the clinical training of medical students from LECOM.
A few years after arriving in Florida Dr. Blend completed a program in nutrition allowing him the board certification title of CNS (Certified Nutrition Specialist). This opened his eyes to a whole new area of medicine termed Functional Medicine. Dr. Blend integrates functional medicine along with other less traditional modalities into his practice. In addition to being board certified in Internal Medicine and a board certified Nutritional Specialist, Dr. Blend has also completed a fellowship in Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine through the American Academy of Anti-Aging and Medicine. He lectures statewide on topics such as nutrition, bioidentical hormones, anti-aging medicine and various IV (intravenous ) therapies.
In 2001, Dr. Blend and his wife Kim Blend, ARNP, opened their first practice together “The Clinic For Mind Body Medicine”, which focused on Bio Identical Hormone Therapy and new modalities in Psychiatric care. In 2010, Tim & Kim took their professional partnership to the next level with the opening of The Blend Institute. A unique, collaborative medical practice focused on the optimization of health and prevention of disease in each patient by individually tailoring interventions to restore physiological, psychological and structural balance.

Dr. Blend also competes in triathlons and enjoys training with the Ringling Bicycling Club. This colorful group of riders can often be spotted rolling through various Bradenton/Sarasota neighborhoods on Wednesday evenings and weekends.
